The Royal Palace - Phnom Penh

A day at the Palace and exploring the palace grounds

sunny 35 °C

Today was spent at the Royal Palace at Phnom Penh. It was firstly built in 1434 and then reconstructed again in 1866. The grounds of the Palace are made up of temples and statues as you can see below.

Tomorrow is my last day in Phnom Penh and the following morning myself and Victora are off to a town called Battambang a bit further North. So far Cambodia has been brilliant. The people are so friendly and it is hard to imagine only a short time ago their country was in such turmoil. Land mines planted by the Khmer Rouge are still a problem today and there are many beggers on the streets with missing limbs and scarring. Yesterday there was a beggar outside the museum and his face was completely distorted from fire. It is an awful feeling because you know no matter how much money this man gets his life can never be what it was.
